You Don't Belong
Prompt: You Don't Belong- Daughtry
With time to kill and an empty tomb,
I always find a way to pass the time with you.
Dark and smoky rooms.
I can hardly stand the fumes.
Telling me that you mean no harm,
You stand me up like a crutch, another arm.
But only when I'm gone.
Have I been away too long?
Emily stood outside of the conference room. JJ and Hotch had gathered the team to tell them the big news about Emily. She was scared how everyone would react.
In the conference room, Hotch was the one to speak. "There was something JJ and I didn't tell you because we couldn't. Emily's alive." He paused when everyone gasped. "Doyle was still out there, so she was placed into Witness Protection. She had been tracking Doyle for a while and finally found him. He's dead now and it's safe for Emily to return."
"And she's here." JJ stated, opening the door.
Emily walked in the room and Garcia instantly jumped up and hugged her. Reid stood up and stormed out of the room. Hotch was about to go after him, but Emily stopped him. "I'll go. I need to talk to him."
Emily walked out of the room to go look for Reid. She had been away for too long.
No, you don't belong to me.
I think you lied to me.
And with my back against the wall, it's hard to be strong.
No, you'd tell me anything, look what you've done to me.
Still, I tell myself that tomorrow you'll be long gone.
Any given time or place.
Reid had to get out of the conference room. He sat outside in the hallway. He didn't want to talk to anyone. He felt so betrayed. Emily walked out of the bullpen and was looking around. She spotted him and walked over to him.
He looked away from her. She sat down and put her hand on his shoulder. He shook her hand off. He looked at her and said, "You betrayed me, Emily. We used to tell each other everything. You lied to me. You acted like nothing was wrong, but you were just too stubborn to ask for help.
I never got to say goodbye to you. I was so upset. I was thinking about leaving the FBI. I wondered what the point was. If we couldn't help one of our own, how could we help others.
What did you think, that you could just run and stage your death? Did you think you could just come back and we'd accept you back right away? It doesn't work that way, Emily. How do w know that you won't leave us again. Nothing is certain with you. I get it, you were trying to protect us, but you ran from the very people that could help you."
I never will forget the disgrace on your face, so full of love.
Will it never be enough?
Ten feet tall and bulletproof.
I never thought that I had a thing to lose.
Emily was in tears after everything Reid said. She wiped away the tear that rolled down her cheek. "Reid, I'm sorry. I just hate that I hurt you like this. I never meant to hurt anyone. I just needed to finish what I had started. I'm back now and I will never leave again. I never wanted to leave in the first place. I had to leave in order to stay safe. I'm sorry I had to die, in order to live. Please forgive me, Reid."
Reid laughed sarcastically. He stood up and just walked away. He got in the elevator and never looked back at Emily.
She decided she would work to get their friendship back. She would do anything she could for him to forgive her.
Well, it looks like after all,
I'm gonna have to choose.
You help pass the time,
But I'm doing fine on my own.
So, there's no reason why to love such a lie.
Tell me, have I been gone away too long?
