A/N: Who else watched the DW marathon that was on today? 'Cos I DID! And then it was like BOOM. HEADSHOT INSPIRATION. So yeah. That's how this was born. Uhhh yeah. Cool story bro. MOVING ON. (Also: bear with me if this sucks. It's just pas 1 A.M. Here)

The Doctor hasn't seen Colbie since they dropped Mo, Elliot, and Ambrose back at home, so he goes looking for her. He leaves Amy in the library and wanders through the TARDIS until he finds a door that can only lead to Colbie's room. It's TARDIS blue, with all kinds of references to her favorite books and movies and TV shows scrawled all over it. He spots a still from The Notebook, of the famous 'rain-kiss' as Colbie calls it, and there's a snippet from the seventh Harry Potter book: 'the ghost of his last laugh still etched upon his face.' and a picture of a pair of characters named Shawn and Gus, with all kinds of nicknames, and what he can only assume are quotes from whatever show they're from.

He raps on the door four times with his knuckles, ignores the sniff that comes from beyond it, and pushes it open. The sight that meets his eyes is a sad one.

Scratch that. It's more than sad. It's possibly the saddest, most depressing thing he's ever seen. And he wants to stop it. Colbie is laying on her stomach, her head at the foot of her bed, buried in her arms while she sobs openly. Her computer is open before her, playing a song, and there are probably hundreds of pictures scattered around her. The Doctor shuts the door quietly and walks to the bed, clearing away some of the pictures and picking his way over the crying girl to lay beside her.

"It's not fair." Comes a muffled sob when he rests a hand at the small of her back. "It's just not fair! Why is it that I can remember him but Amy can't? He was her fiancee, for God's sake!" A photo is resting on Colbie's computer, and the Doctor jerks in a quick, sharp intake of breath when he sees it.

Because there's Colbie at a beach, standing with her legs together and her arms thrown into the air, grinning like a fool, while Rory makes a face in the background. The Doctor can imagine Amy trying not to laugh like an idiot while she took that picture.

"You didn't let anything distract you when I was telling Amy that earlier." He says finally, rubbing his hand in small circles on her back. "Not even the TARDIS landing." This just makes Colbie cry harder, and the Doctor just lays there with her, stroking her back and whispering to her soothingly. She finally cries herself to sleep and the Doctor surveys her. Still on her stomach, with her hands tucked under her chin, her head turned towards him, the only signs that he can see that she was crying are the red streaks where her tears fell, and the angry red patches of skin where she rubbed at her eyes furiously. Eventually, he falls asleep as well, and they stay there like that all night, his hand still on her back, both their minds plagued with images of her dead brother.
