Disclaimer: I do not own either Ben 10 or Ben 10: Alien Force. That honor belongs to Man of Action, among others.

Author's Note: A little Gwevin that takes place in the middle of the episode. It's notable because I wrote it from the third person observer perspective, which I hardly ever use. I believe it's also the closest thing to a drabble I've done.

Being Around

"Lame. Lame!" Kevin called out after Gwen as she descended from the roof of her house.

"Dude, that's not going to work," Ben advised, an amused smile playing about his lips.

"Yeah, like you're such an expert," Kevin shot back.

"Maybe not, but I do know my cousin, and I know that she didn't kiss you because of that stupid word you keep repeating." Ben started climbing back to Gwen's window. Kevin followed him.

"Yeah, genius? Why then?" They both swung into her room.

"Because you said you wanted her around," Ben explained.

"So what's the big deal about that? I do want her around."

"Have you ever told her that before?"

"I…" Kevin trailed off, looking confused, and Ben grinned triumphantly.

"You should try it more often," Ben offered. "Even better, show her that you appreciate her now and then. That always went a long way when we were kids, especially after I'd been a jerk or something."

"And how am I supposed to do that?"

"I think it will be much more fun if you figure that out for yourself." With that, Ben turned and headed out of Gwen's room and down the stairs.

"Ben? Hey, wait! Ben!" Kevin followed to watch what would unfold when Gwen faced her grandmother.
