Wreckage

Dom felt like he was screaming through a tunnel, all he could see was the bastard that had killed Letty. The impact tore through his entire body, jerking him against the seatbelt, slamming his chest into the steering wheel. His vision cleared, the bastard was laid out over the hood of his car. Triumph soared through him; he had finished it, taken care of business. Dom made his way out of the car, stumbling around the trunk, looking for Brian. He had been dimly aware that Brian's car was a twisted hunk of metal. The drug dealer leaned heavily on one side, looking woozy and bashed up. Brian lay in the dirt, completely still. Dom's heart stopped in his chest, there was no motion, not rise and fall of his chest, no blinking dirt out of unseeing eyes. Nothing. Brian lay completely still, blood pooling around him in the sand.

Dom didn't remember covering the distance, but suddenly he was there holding Brian, his body was so heavy, so empty. Rage like he had never felt before filled him. He was not going to let another person go, not now, not ever. Dom screamed and raged, pounding on Brian's chest, slapping his face, anything to bring him back. He wrapped his fingers around Brian's neck, seeking a pulse, a sign of life, anything. Leaning his forehead down onto Brian's blood soaked chest.

"Don't do this." In the moment of silence that followed those broken words there was the softest wheeze. Dom's head snapped up, hope burning through his chest.

"Come on, Brian!" A shuddering cough started in the bloody chest and worked its way up, Brian sprayed blood when he coughed, but the broken inhalation after that cough, was music to Dom's ears. Bright blue eyes blinked, struggling to focus on Dom.

"Get out of here." A wild relieved grin spread across Dom's face.

"I'm done running." Brian shuddered and shook his head.

"Prison, they'll send you back." Dom ignored him and slumped back, all the adrenaline leaving his system. For once he didn't care, Letty was avenged, Brian was alive, and he would face what was next when it came to him.

Author's Note: I know that Dom is very OC, get over it. I really fought with killing Brian off, and all the pain that would bring Dom, but I'm being kind . . . for the moment.
