Authors Notes:

They ran across the dessert. The storm raged on behind them. It followed them. They slid down the sand dunes running toward the temple holding the stargate. The shadow hung low to the ground and followed. It watched as the older one yelled at the younger one to open the gate. The storm reached a fevered pitch outside the temple. The shadow watched as the four went threw the Gate and quickly followed them.

"Report."

"General, it was a wash. Except for something following us, there was nothing there." Jack said.

"Something was following you?"

"It was more like a shadow, sir." Carter said quickly.

"A Shadow warrior, perhaps."

"See, I never can tell. Was that a joke?"

Lt. Simmons burst into the room. "General Hammond, sir, you need to see this."

Hammond and SG1 followed him to the control room. A shadow hung over the Gate. It was as if something was looming over the Gate. The guards beneath it had their weapons pointed at it.

"The shadow forms the planet. Daniel said string at it. They all turned and watched as Teal'c left the control room and made his way to the Gate room. "Shadow Warrior."

"You are Teal'c."

"I am."

The shadow drifted down toward Teal'c . The guns pointed at it followed "We have been waiting for you."

Teal'c lifted his eyebrow "Why?"

"You will lead the chosen one to its destiny."

General Hammond entered the Gate room, followed by O'Neill, Carter and DR. Fraiser and Daniel Jackson. The shadow came closer.

"I am…"

"General George Hammond, we know." It said floating before him.

"And who am I speaking to?"

"We are of no matter." It replied, "Only the choose one matters."

Sam looked at the shadow. Amazing, Sir, it has no form, yet can communicate. That defies logic."

"There is much for you to learn,….Sammantha Carter is it?"

"Yes.
"You are Daniel Jackson. The chosen one has spoken of you often."

"Me, how…"

"General, Look!" Fraiser blurted out.

The shadow was expanding again. The entire Gate was in shadowed. It slowly engulfed the Gateroom.

"Do not fear us. We will not harm you."

"Who is the chosen one?" Daniel asked

"Wait a minute. Back up. What's going on? This thing follows us through the Gate and no one is at all worried."

"You are O'Neill. Your life force has touched the chosen one. And it has touched you."

Ex cuse me?"

The shadow turned toward the Gate.

"The chosen one awaits. We must go."

Suddenly the Gate sprang to life. The shadow sucked into the 'water' as it came outward and was gone.

"Wait!" Daniel and Sam both cried out.

"Carter, mind telling me what just happened?"

"Sir, I think we just made first contact with a non-carbon life form."

Sam and Janet just stared at each other.
