"Shut up, damn it, and let me fix my mistakes!" Lucy had shouted at me a few hours ago. She had called me, and said that she wanted to talk to me. Lucy refused to discuss it over the phone. She had been so insistent that we needed to talk, and determined to make sure that I showed up, that she let me set the time and place. Advantage, Black.
We'd met at a fairly crowded coffeehouse, one that she didn't frequent, and sat down to discuss what she wanted with me now.
"Look, Kieran, I was taught to fix what I screw up. I don't know what happened with you and Sol. Frankly, I don't want to know. Sol has been moping around since the fight, and I can't stand it," Lucy fidgets as she tells me this. She looks around the shop, seemingly fascinated by the teens around us. I have to wonder if she's as jealous of them as I am; innocents who have no obstacles in the path to their happiness.
"Kieran, earth to Kieran," Lucy isn't yelling exactly, but she did raise her voice to get my attention. I force myself to focus on the opportunity that's she is offering me.
"I'm not asking you to do anything other than meet with her for a few minutes. Will you do that, please?"
Lucy's given me the best shot I'll ever have at seeing Solange. I maybe a Hunter, but I'm not an idiot; I say yes.
It's all worth it, a few days later, when Solange looks up and meets my gaze.
Chapter four of SitS is coming along nicely- 1,000+ words already.
