I sit here in my lair and think
Of what's been lost and what's to come.
I am now at a turning point,
One life behind and one before.
The pain I feel is not so bad
(It helps to put it down in words);
The physical is long since gone,
The mental, well, it's going too.
And I have friends who care and fret,
Both ghost and human, side by side.
They listen and they help me through;
I know they're always there for me.
My life has changed, for good or bad,
For better, is the hope I hold.
It's hard to go, it's worse to stay,
And so I work to change it more.
I've lost my song but have my voice —
I have my voice, I have my soul.
The whole of time spreads out ahead.
I stand up strong and face it all.
