"But what if we don't get the stone in time?" Alex asked, swallowing the large lump that had formed in her throat.

"Well will," Justin reassured her, poking at the fire.

"How do you know?"

Justin stopped and looked at her, wondering how she could ask such a question, "Because it's you and I," he told her sincerely.

A small tear slid from Alex's eye, and Justin's heart slowly began to break. He lifted his hand that was heavy with sleep and slowly wiped it away. Alex looked down as though she was ashamed that she was crying but Justin held onto her face, wanting to let her know that it was okay to be scared.

"Alex…" he whispered but his voice trailed off, unable to breathe let alone speak.

"I need you," Alex sniffed as the tears fell freely from her eyes, "I need you now more than ever…"

"I'm here," Justin whispered and pressed his lips to her forehead and inhaled the scent of her hair.
