Everybody's Fool.
Sebastian sat in his room after he had put the master to sleep. the butler sat against the door, knees up to his chest as he stared at nothing.
he often sat like this after a long day, thinking of everything he has dont wrong, or what he cannot do wrong. the looming stress of having to always remain the perfect being, no matter what.
in the safety of the silent home, he could slip his perfect butler mask to the real "Sebastian", an insecure, young man, who knew nothing of being perfect.
The butler chuckled darkly at this. he lived in his own world full of lies that only slipped into more when he told himself it would be fine. more lies about the amazing butler, Sebastian Michaelis. he never was, and never would be that man.
his head told him of the imperfect things he had done, everything he had failed in, has he no shame for his mistakes?, and Sebastian punished himself day and night because of it.
he cried out at nothing in particular on many nights, shouting his despair at them. this was one of those nights.
"DONT YOU SEE ME?!"
nothing answered the raven haired man. nothing but silence. he knew that no one expected him to be this way. just the perfect butler he was. the perfect butler others looked up to.
the perfect butler he was pretending to be.
all except the other perfect butler that had betrayed him. the other butler knew Sebastian had everybody fooled.
The other perfect butler, Claude, had taken away Sebastian's mask, leaving him nowhere to hide his insecurities. but Sebastian had started to believe he could be that butler he pretended to be, and lost himself in the lies.
But he knew the truth now. he knew he wasnt the butler. he had loved Claude, but when Claude had taken away his mask and left him there, Sebastian knew he didn't love the spider anymore.
"YOU DONT KNOW HOW YOU BETRAYED ME!" he screamed once more, but he knew 'Sebastian Michaelis' wasnt real, and couldn't save him. but still, he somehow had everybody fooled.
Although a piece of him knew that he was a pawn, nothing more than a servant.
He was everybody's fool.
