Hey everyone. This is for the Chocolate Truffle Craze. I choose to write for write for Fudge Swirl and Sugar Crystals. The task for Fudge Swirl was to write about Remus Lupin and the task for Sugar Crystals was write about sugarcoating something. This little plot line popped into my mind immediately. I hope you all enjoy Watching Over Us.

Teddy looks up at me curious brown eyes. I know the question he wants to ask me and I know why he keeps himself from asking it. He doesn't want to upset me any more than I want to upset him. But I also know he wants to know the answer.

"Teddy," I said haltingly because to be honest in that moment he looked so much like Tonks the last time I saw her that it hurt, "are you alright, son?" I watched him squirm as he thought of way to pose the questions that ran across his mind. He was really bright for a five year old but he was just that. A five year old. He shouldn't have to think about death. Or dead loved ones.

"I am fine, Daddy," he began voice faltering as he went into thought again.

"Are you sure?"

I looked at him seeing the questions clear on his face.

"You can ask anything," I told him pulling him into my arms. "Is there anything you want to know?"

He fidgeted as he looked into my face. "Why isn't Mummy here too?" he asked tears forming in his eyes.

"Mummy is here," I told him. Seeing his unbelieving look I continued. "You see Mummy isn't visibly here like you or I are. But she is here all the same."

"But why isn't she visible?"

"Mummy was taken from us by some bad people," I told him. "Bad people who wanted to hurt those who aren't like them. And Mummy knew that this wasn't a very safe world for you. So she and I joined the fight and Mummy was taken from us."

He accepted this answer wiping his eyes on his arm as little sniffles came from him. "Is Mummy watching over us where she is?" he asked looking up at me.

"Of course," I told him holding him close to me. "Mummy will always be watching over us. As long as we live."

He nodded and jumped down from my arms. "Thank you, Daddy," he said running off to play with his toys.

I waited until he was well out of the room to break down into tears. Nothing can prepare a parent on how to explain death to a child. And nothing would make this alright.

I hope you all enjoyed Watching Over Us.
