Prompt: Simple
Danny glared at the piles of papers next to him.
He hated paperwork. He was a CSI--Crime SCENE Investigator. He belonged out in the field and not sitting here for hours signing his signature a million times.
He glanced over. Possibly the only good thing about a shift with no cases and only paperwork was the Lindsay was sharing it with him. It was more than wonderful to be able to glance away from the horrible papers in front of him and see her face.
However, as she was the ever-conscientious one she wasn't even glancing up at him. It was like he'd become invisible.
He glared again and looked back at the paper in front of him. He willed it to burn with the heat of his eyes; unfortunately, he was as much Superman as he was Batman so nothing happened. He sighed, accepted the inevitable, and went back to work.
He worked steadily for a while until he felt something hit the back of his neck. He reached up with his hand, but nothing was there. He looked over at Montana, but she was scribbling away, not even noticing he was looking at her and boy was that getting old.
He brushed it off and went back to work. Five minutes later he felt something hit him again. This time he stood up, his chair squeaking at he pushed it back.
Lindsay did look up this time, twirling her pen in one hand as she looked at him quickly, "You okay?"
He looked around the room, then, realizing he must look crazy sat back down again, "Fine, just...stretching."
She nodded and was back to work. He did too.
Finally, out of the corner of his eye, he saw her finish her last file and put it to the side.
He kept his eyes on her, just slightly, which is why he saw the paper ball coming at him from her direction just before it hit his neck.
"I knew it," he said, jumping up, "I just knew you were messing with me."
She giggled, not even trying to hide it as she put down the next paper ball, "That was fun. So simple, so effective. Boys are so easy."
Danny glared at her, "Not so easy. I'm not talking to you for the rest of the day," he said, barely restraining the need to stick out her tongue at him.
She shook her head and smiled at him, "I'm not wearing any underwear."
"What? For how long? Are you serious?" he babbled.
She chuckled and went back to her paperwork, "So easy."
