I recognized where I was. I had been there before it used to be a place of warmth and joy but that feeling had left with its occupants, now it was a dark dangerous place and it stank of death.

Chapter 1: The Aftermath

No matter how much time passed I still dreamt of Edward. It had been two years since the Cullens left. I was going to visit the one person who held me here, Jacob. We hung out often, when I was with him some of the pain went away and I felt like I could actually breathe.

"Hey Bella" He said as I pulled up in my old truck.

"Hey Jake."

"I've got something I want to show you."

"And what's that"?

Jacob then changed into his wolf form and trotted over to the porch steps. With the help of the steps I clumsily climbed onto his back and stroked his soft fur. He made a small whine of contentment. Then he began to run, slowly at first and then with a speed that could rival a vampire's. We traveled like this ever since I crashed my bike beyond repair. But, luckily riding on the back of a werewolf was still dangerous enough to give me my visions of Edward I so deeply needed to stay alive. Every few seconds I saw him watching me silently, guarding me.

Jake began to slow and the glorious vision disappeared into my memories. When I looked around I found myself on the top of a small mountain. There was a small waterfall flowing into a pool of fresh blue water.

"Wow, it's so beautiful" I said to the now human Jake.

"Isn't it?" he asked with a bright smile only he could give "I found it when I was out scouting."

"Is Victoria still out here?" She had been hiding in the area since the Cullens left.

"We haven't seen her for weeks, but Sam Still has us watch the grounds." I sat down next to him on a fallen tree trunk.

"We're having a party tonight, big bonfire the works." Jacob said proudly.

"What's the occasion?"

"It's the anniversary of when our ancestors killed the first cold one."

"Oh, well…"

"C'mon it'll be fun, Charlie wants you to go."

"You told Charlie?!"

"I knew that if I did you would have to go." He said smiling.

"That's blackmail" I accused.

"Did it work?"

"Unfortunately."

"Oh come on it will be fun!"
