Bells By Rukia Abarai

There were bells that day

Ringing and dinging their sound

First at sweet weddings

Sounding an eternal code

Then at funerals

Sounding out lamentations

Bells will always be

Hate not their omnipotence

Enjoy them always

Blessed be the sound of these bells

Never have they failed

Ringing the tunes of our lives

There were bells that day

Recalling passion and love

Heard at the river

That summer day long ago

Heard them at the cliff

When our futures did unfold

Did you hear them then?

While I heard them loud and clear?

I knew it was you

Companion, friend… something more?

Did you feel it too?

But you just stood still that day

Watched us drift apart

Though you were still in my heart

There were bells that day

You came to fetch me one day

For execution

I'm not killed by your hands though

I get saved by friends

I'm thrown to you, you catch me

You carry me free

The bells are always ringing

But they don't ring now

They won't interrupt for now

Let the bells not ring

I'm gazing into you now

Let them be silent

I'm searching your eyes and soul

Love you forever

Gazing and searching for you

Don't go, stay awhile

The Society can wait

And now, wait it shall

And wait it must forever

There were bells that day
