[Author's Note: This is just a short Prologue to give you and intro into the story. Don't expect much]

The year is 2018, and the world is a very different place. The Brotherhood has taken control of the Sentinels, but this time the X-Men have been unable to stop them. Slowly mutant extremists have swept across the United States, crushing military resistance and taking control of two thirds of the US. Canada, having supported Mutant rights movements and anti-discrimination campaigns, has been left alone, though known anti-mutant activists have been dragged from their homes by angry mutant extremists and beaten to death in the streets. The government was overthrown, being replaced by a dictatorship of Brotherhood members, such as Magneto, Mystique, and Mr. Sinister. Washington D.C. is now the Brotherhood's base of operations, and is guarded by an ever-growing fleet of sentinel robots, which were originally designed to hunt, capture or kill mutants but now have been hijacked and turned against the humanity that built them. Manhattan Island is one of the few places where humans still have control, as they have sealed off the tunnels and destroyed the bridges, totally fortifying the island from mutant inhabitance. US leaders have fled overseas to Japan, Britain, and other Asian and European countries, as well as Russia, leaving the citizens who choose not to flee in the same manner to fend for themselves without leaders other than those few individuals who choose to stand up against the mutants. Unfortunately, such people are very few in number and are usually victims of mutant extremists violence.
Professor Charles Xavier and his elite mutant group, known as the X-Men, have gone into hiding, keeping low and keeping quiet, leaving the world to fend for itself. Many people who once had faith in the X-Men have now given up hope, as the X-Men have abandoned them…. Or have they?
For the X-Men, this war will be fought not on a level playing field, but through guerilla warfare. Attacks on strategic locations in cities, military facilities, and strongholds of the Brotherhood will come out of nowhere, completely by surprise. They will be quick, silent and deadly, fighting without mercy or remorse, for this is a new playing field. There can be no room for error, no room for failure… no room to fall back.
There are mutants other than the X-Men resisting the Brotherhood's rule. Resistance groups spring up in every city, working alone or with other teams such as the Avengers and the X-Factor. These groups, though small, pose a threat to the structure and stability of the Brotherhood's rule, for they are the ones who the brotherhood depends on for support. They are fellow mutants. And they have the power the human race didn't. They have the ability to fight back, to oppose the Brotherhood at every turn. They have already started to fight back. They have already started fighting the Brotherhood's control. The Brotherhood's rule stands strong, but will not be able to hold out if many more mutants oppose them, as such mutants are the support they depend on to stay in power.
And thus, the struggle for the New World Order begins…
