The One Thing We Can't Control

As surgeons, there are many things you can control.

From deciding whether or not a patient lives

Correctly diagnosing a patient

To totally rocking a hardcore surgery

We control how much we consume

And how we work it off

We can control our thoughts

What we say and we control our actions

We can control most of our feelings

There is one main feeling we cannot control

Love.

We can hide those feelings. Force them away. But they bubble up under the surface and emerge. Thirsty and ready for more.

Love especially.

Mark Sloan was one of those people who forced those feelings away. He didn't want to believe it. For those past months, he didn't want to believe that he was still in love with Lexie.

She was with Karev.

She told him.

She stated it clearly.

Boyfriend

Mark cursed those words. Im with Alex.

They played over and over again in his head.

Her shocked voice. Words catching in her throat.

He had seen tears at the edges of her eyes.

Even with the boyfriend and her telling Mark that.

Mark didn't regret what he said to her afterwords.

If you want a husband

He never thought Why did I say that? That was so stupid. I never should have said that to her.

Not once did he think that.

Mark knew if Lexie wanted him, she would come back.

He had told her he still loved her. If she loved him to, she would be back.

He had never loved Teddy. That much was certain.

Callie wanted to help fill the void. The girlfriend void.

Mark agreed to start looking for in his mind a replacement.

Teddy.

She was appropriate for him.

Mark didn't want appropriate.

He wanted the opposite.

He wanted Lexie.

They only way he knew how to get women away from him, was to sleep with someone else.

So that's how his relationship with Teddy ended.

Now Mark sat on his couch mindlessly watching TV.

He paid no attention to the news.

He replayed Im with Alex and if you want a husband. Over and over again in his head.

He ran his hands through his hair, stretched and stood up.

He turned the TV off at the same time as the door opened.

Mark's eyes widened in surprise when he saw who it was.

"Lex." He said hardly audible.

Her cheeks were streaked with tears.

She took a shaky breath and said

"I'm still in love with you too."

OK. I know that sucked. But if u want to R&R go write ahead :)

Thanks for reading. I love M/L :) So happy with that little scene with them!
