Survival

Shark Attack

The fish glided, gracefully in front of me, its bright yellow spots, shimmering gracefully in the sea light. All of a sudden the fishes' pace quickened until it disappeared. I thought, "How strange, why?"

Then it happened…

The black mysterious fog engulfed around me. Something, dark lurked in the cavices below, but who was it? My heart beat quickened against my ribcage like a bass drum.

Cautiously, I swam on.

I turned back with every stroke I made, that's how I noticed it.

The Great White Shark!

Its jaws clamped around my thigh and my snorkel mask snapped in the vicious fight.

Vibrant colours popped into my mind.

I was a goner for sure.

It was mauling my neck, I was loosing lots of blood fast, I knew it was only a matter of time before more came.

I struggled and squirmed, I kicked and I hit but it would not release.

Underneath my organs was failing my thighs and limbs tore. I was loosing oxygen fast.

A dolphin pack swam by, miraculously the shark let go, I took my chance and scrambled slowly to the surface.

I knew it was a myth of sharks afraid of dolphins, but never believed it; I do now!

As I broke the surface I crawled into the foetal position in case it came back. I was badly injured, I lay there still as a statue waiting for help to arrive, I could feel my blood leaking away.

After a few hours, I was rescued. My blood had turned the sea red, I was rushed to hospital. Once at the hospital I received urgent surgery, 385 stitches to my side alone.

However, I shocked everyone by surviving. Now, I hunt for the sharks to try and help them. Many are shocked that I now help the creatures that destroyed my life.
