Li'l Thug
Prologue
Shantice* Jenkins is the younger sister of Otis Jenkins, also known as Thugnificent. She and Otis were close as children, until their parents separated and they were forced to separate. Otis lived with his mother and Shantice with her father and his girlfriend. The siblings wrote to each other to keep in contact, but, as they grew older, the letters became less frequent.
When Otis became Thugnificent, many people tried to get to him through Shantice. There was one man, however, who had heard about Thugnificent's up-coming success before anyone else. He had already started to show an interest in Shantice so, once everyone else did, he would seem different from them. His name was Alfred Pilgrim.
Alfred and Shantice got married in March, a few years after Thugnificent became famous. 5 months later, Shantice gave birth to a baby girl. Her name was Lyrika. Lyrika Jenkins-Pilgrim. Shantice immediately wrote to her brother, asking if he could come to visit and see his niece. When Thugnificent visited with them, he was so happy to see his niece… and, his sister, after so many years. They rekindled their closely-knit sibling-hood, much to the delight of Alfred.
After some years, Thugnificent, during one of his many monthly visits, announced that he would be leaving his fortune and passing his legacy on to Lyrika. Shantice was overjoyed… Alfred, however, was not. He hadn't planned on this. The last thing he wanted was any of the money he'd waited so patiently to obtain to go to his… little mistake.
No more than 2 days after that visit, Alfred filed for divorce from Shantice and won custody of Lyrika a few years later. Alfred decided to move to a town called Woodcrest to keep Lyrika as far away from her uncle.
"Dad, where are we going?" Lyrika, who was 8, asked as her father drove the car as fast as he could.
"Shut up. We're leaving." he said harshly. Lyrika turned around to see her uncle's car pull into their old driveway. She wanted to saw something to her dad, tell him to go back... but, she was too afraid to.
"We going to Woodcrest. You gonna be good, make friends, and go to school like a normal kid, aight?"
"Okay..." Lyrika whispered.
*Pronounced [Shaun-teece]*
