James T. Kirk was currently standing with the woman of his dreams on the Observation Deck.

It was very peaceful, really. Unlike some relationships he'd been in, the two were often content just in one another's presence instead of snogging each other's faces of.

He had his arms wrapped around her waist and his head on her shoulder, while she was leaning into his body quite enticingly. He couldn't wait for the evening. Never had he felt such a passion for someone. Well, that wasn't quite true, but James had at least never felt so much love for someone for quite as long as had for Janice. Well, that ONE other time, maybe.

He moved his left hand up and caressed her hair. It had always mystified him how soft her hair was. Not even Ruth's had been that soft. Or had it been Karen who'd had the soft hair? Whatever. All that mattered was that Janice's hair was softer.

"Jim?" her voice awoke him from his musings. She had such a lovely voice. Anne, a professional singer, hadn't had as nice of a voice.

"Mm?"

"Were you thinking of past loves or something? You always get that glazed expression when you do."

She'd turned to face him by now, and he pushed his head off her shoulder.

She was so perceptive. Not even Maia had been that good, and she'd been a telepath. Wait, wasn't that Silka?…no, it was definitely Maia.

"Well, sort of," he replied. "I was just thinking of how they really can't compare to you."

"How many times have you said that, I wonder?" she wondered aloud. He grabbed her chin with one hand and turned her face to meet his own.

"Actually, only twice before now," he replied, looking into her gorgeous eyes. Not even that Orion girl he'd been with that one time had had such nice eyes. "And until now, it's never been the truth."

With that he kissed her. She turned her body and wrapped her own arms around him, leaning into the kiss naturally.

"Unless you kissed the other two like that, I believe you," she replied after they stopped kissing, before initiating a follow-up kiss.

Well, maybe they didn't snog each other's faces off 24/7, but they did snog a fair amount.

He wanted to do so much more than just kiss at that moment, and he can tell she did too. That was the only trouble with finding the girl of his dreams: the passion was always just simmering below the surface. With that thought, he led her off the deck towards his quarters.

Seeing the look on her face, he realized she was thinking the same thing. No one, not even Maia the telepath, had ever thought what he thought as much as Janice did.

Author's note: This is probably my favorite couple in the TOS fandom. I regret not having written for them before. Oh well. I've changed that now!
