"Daddy! Daddy! Look at the picture I drew," a young girl of six screamed running out of her father's office. She tugged at the pant leg of his Naval uniform for and added effect.

Her father, a tall Navy commander, averted his attention from the copies he was making and squatted down to his daughter's level. "What have you got there, sweetie?" he asked.

"I drew a picture for you, daddy. Look, it's our family!" she squealed.

He looked at the piece of paper being thrust into his face and found a perfect representation of his wife and children. He looked to be in his Navy blues and his wife in her Marine green. His daughter and her three brothers were all dressed in clothes the colors of her choosing. They were all smiling and holding hands and a large yellow sun was shining down on them.

"It's beautiful, baby. What should I do with it?"

"It goes on the 'fridgerator, silly," she smiled, the brown eyes of her mother sparkling.

"Of course. How could I forget? I'll tell you what. I'll put it in my briefcase and we'll put it on the refridgerator when we get home, ok?"

"No, daddy," she stated firmly, "we need to put it up here. So everybody can see."

"Oh, I see. Well then, let's go."

The commander and his daughter walked hand in hand to the break room, where he helped her tape the picture on the door of the refridgerator for all to see. They both stood back, admiring her work, when she spoke. "What are we going to do now, daddy?" she asked.

The young Petty Officer standing in the doorway overheard the question and approached the young girl. "Hey, you know what? I've got to go to the library to find a book. If it's ok with your daddy, you can come help me find it."

The child looked up at her father and didn't need to ask before her father said, "Go on, honey. Have fun, ok?"

His daughter and the Petty Officer walked into the bullpen and disappeared from sight on their way to the library.

For the remainder of the day, the young girl was kept occupied by the rest of the office staff "helping" with various tasks throughout the day. Around 1700, a young blonde Lieutenant came in the commander's office carrying the young girl in her arms, her head resting on her shoulder.

"You might want to call it a day sir. She's getting pretty tired."

The Commander smiled and took the girl from the Lieutenant. His daughter shifted slighty in his arms and turned her head to look at her father.

"Did you have fun today, sweetie?" he asked.

The girl only smiled and nodded her head. Satisfied with her day, she closed her drooping eyelids. The commander gathered his briefcase, coat, and cover and began the exit out of the building. Just as he was about to close the door to his office, he heard his daughter ask quietly, "Daddy, can I come to work with you everyday?"
