He got up slowly, and steadily walked up behind her. "Hey" he whispered. She turned around and looked at him. "What are you doing out here? It's late. "He said quietly.
"I could ask you the same." Cassie replied. "I couldn't sleep so I decided to take a walk. What about you?"
"Couldn't sleep either." Jake answered. Cassie started walking again and Jake strolled beside her.
Cassie sighed, "Jake I'm scared." She turned around and looks him in the eye. His eyes reflected the moonlight in the dark of night.
"Of what?" He replied calmly. He wanted to comfort her. Be strong for her the way she always unknowingly was for him. Jake watched as a single tear rolled down Cassie's cheek and she turned away.
Leaning against his chest Cassie replied, "Of the war. I mean what if it never ends? What if we lose before the Andalites get here? What if........What if one of us died? I wouldn't be able to handle knowing that one of my friends died.......or that you died." A silent stream of tears was now flowing down Cassie's cheeks.
"Cassie, don't worry. I'll always be there for you. We're going to win this war. Nothing going to happen. I'll make sure of it."
Cassie turned around and looked at Jake. Jake wiped away a tear rolling down her cheek. He leaned down and kissed her passionately. When they pulled away the both smiled.
"Nothings going to happen." He repeated. They both continued to walk down the beach, not speaking a word, for nothing was needed to be said.

The Beach
Jake sat on the beach, watching the waves crash silently ashore. He sat there enjoying the calming sound of the ocean. As he sat, his eyes skimmed the beach, taking in his surroundings. He saw a lone figure walking across the beach. As he looked closer he recognized the person as Cassie.
