Alphabetized and Randomized Challenge – Ted Tonks/Andromeda
A Summer's Day
Ted sometimes still could not believe that Andromeda had been willing to be kicked out of her family for him, for them. He had not wanted her to have to choose between her family and him but she had, and she had somehow chosen him over her family.
She had been cast out of her family for marrying him, a muggleborn, somehow he had not been extremely surprised by the Black family's reaction. They were typical purebloods after all, Andromeda had expected it too but he had seen the pain in her eyes when she had been disowned.
He had hoped that he was a good enough reason for her sacrificing her family. She had constantly assured him that he was worth it for the first year of their marriage and had been somewhat annoyed with his insecurity.
He had been able to move past that when Andromeda had fallen pregnant and the thought of being not good enough had completely fled his mind once the metamorphmagus child had been born with hair changing colours every second minute. Andromeda had laughed at the irony of her child having one of the skills the Black family had so carefully treasured while no one in generations had managed to be born with the skill.
Nymphadora was six today so they had decided to take her to the picnic spot near the river instead of taking her to a café like they usually did on a day like this. She was running around and splashing in the water while Andromeda and Ted sat under a tree nearby. Nymphadora was a picture of childish innocence as she attempted to chase everything that she saw moving around her while getting distracted by the strangest of things. It was a warm day with the sun shining brightly and the sky was so blue it was difficult to believe that it was not simply paint that had been painted there without them noticing. They knew that they would probably stay there until sunset.
The Dark Lord had been defeated only a few days ago and the Wizarding World was still celebrating that fact. Andromeda and Ted were glad that Nymphadora would be able to grow up without the threat of the Dark Lord looming over her head.
They had heard of the death of Lily and James as well as the torture of Alice and Frank, they felt sorry for both Harry and Neville for losing their parents at such and age. Both of their parents were wonderful people who they would never be able to truly meet.
Andromeda and Ted met each other's eyes, they were glad that neither one of them had died during the war, that Nymphadora would be able to grow up knowing both her parents and not living with nothing but a vague memory in her conscious.
They reached for each other's hands. They were glad for each other and the support the other provided unwittingly and without hesitation.
Everything was perfect for them and they were glad for it.
