The small diner was full of life with the morning bustle of the people of New York City. In a booth in the back of a restaurant, sat two people talking amongst themselves.
"Where is she?" An impatient Kurt Hummel asked his trimmed finger nails tapping against the table.
"I don't know." Answered Mercedes Jones who was sitting across from him in the booth, browsing a menu.
"She knows that we meet here every week, out of all days to be late why does she pick this one?"
"I don't know, Kurt." Mercedes replied again, "But she needs to hurry up we have to be at the theatre in forty five minutes."
"I know, I've tried calling her but she won't answer." Kurt stated looking down at his phone.
"Maybe she got caught up with a fan?" Mercedes suggested.
"Maybe she's just being Rachel." Kurt sighed and took a sip from his coffee.
The clouds swirled darkly above Lima, Ohio thunder and lightning erupted though the dark sky. Rain fell and impacted the window. Quinn Fabray lay in bed, listening to the rain and groaned. She pulled the covers tightly around her body, basking in the heat.
"I don't want to get up today." She thought. Sighing, she slowly stood up and walked into the bathroom.
Turning the knob, water began to pour and she stepped into the shower and let the warm water engulf her body. She exited the bathroom, a towel wrapped around body. Walking over to the closet, she grabbed her white blouse and red blazer. She began buttoning her shirt and pulled on her black skirt along with a pair of tan pantyhose. She was nearly done dressing herself when a meow caught her attention. A black and white cat lay lazily on the bed, purring. The blonde smiled and walked over to the bed. She sat down and scratched the cat behind the ear.
"I do not want to go to work today, Othello." The feline meowed in response.
"I know I never want to go."
She stood up; slipping on a pair of heels she walked into the bathroom. She began brushing her teeth and drying her hair. Once her hair was in a tight bun and her makeup was applied, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her hazel eyes looked back at her filled with sadness and exhaustion. She gripped the white sink and took a deep breath as she flashed a large smile. She did after all have two houses to show today and appearance was everything.
"Meow!"
The cat brushed himself against her legs, nudging her with his nose.
"Okay, okay I'm hungry too."
They both exited the room and walked down the stairs to the kitchen. Quinn turned on the television that was in the small living room. She listened to the news as she grabbed a can of cat food and the bag of English muffins from the cupboard. She also started the coffee maker.
"Looks like we're stuck with this rain for the rest of the week folks so don't forget your umbrella!" The cheery, heavyset weatherman spoke with enthusiasm.
"And it looks like we're going to need are jackets as we head into this fall weather with temperatures staying in the low fifties. Back to you Stefanie."
Quinn pulled the muffin from the toaster, placed it onto a plate and began to pour honey onto it. She licked her fingers as she poured a cup of coffee.
"Thanks Jim." The young news anchor replied. "In other news, Broadway sensation Rachel Berry, who is currently starring in the revival of West Side Story, was involved in a car accident early this morning. The actress's car was struck by another driver; both drivers remain in critical condition at this time."
Quinn felt the air leave her lungs and the mug of coffee she had been holding fell to the floor, shattering along with the rest of her world.
