Disclaimer: I don't own Tale of Two Cities
To my dearest friend,
I daresay there were times when we did not get along. I daresay there were times when we did not see eye to eye. I daresay I don't approve of everything you do. With all that being said I can honestly say you are my best friend. You are a kind and compassionate man. You are loving. You are considerate. You always do what is right no matter how hard it may be for you. That is one thing we have in common.
Sydney I ask you to please look after my family. You know all there is to know now at this point. I need not share anything new with you because you already know it. Please take care to be gentle and loving toward them for they need a person who is strong in love.
There are times when I said this or that was wrong but to be honest when I think about it, if I were in your shoes I might have made the same choices that you made. Does that mean I agree with them? Some of them yes. Some of them no but I know that you had no recourse save what you did. You didn't have the strengths back then that you have now.
I want you to know one last thing. I have never held your folly against you. It has brought in the end so much good the bad cancels out. You are not just my friend. You are not just my the man who was there for my family and I. You are my brother not in blood but in spirit.
Your friend and brother
Charles
