Another frustrating day at the office trying to save the world one wayward juvenile at a time. Picking up my briefcase I headed out, late as usual and tired as anything but I would be back in 12 hours to do it all again. Of course, I love my job but sometimes I wish it would be more family friendly. I have sometimes thought of other professions such as teaching law however I don't feel like I need to settle down, it's not like I have a young family. Speaking of family, I fish my phone out to check Kirsten doesn't need anything from the local store. One message received and it was from Kirsten: 'fancy picking up a takeaway and watching a film with the boys?'. I smiled, trust my family to help end the day well. My wife and my boys are the most important things to me. Ryan came to mind instantly, one juvenile who I have saved and now has a family. Ryan had changed the family and made it better. Sure, he got off to a wobbly start but once he settled in family life the world seemed a better place. Ryan had helped to get Seth to socialise more and they now had a bond of brotherhood. He seemed to have a knack with construction so could engage in conversation about Kirsten's work on an even level, something neither Sandy or Seth could do. Ryan had changed him also. Ryan was an example of a good kid who grew up in a hard place but had so much potential just waiting to be noticed. I always have him in mind when I have cases, he's a reminder of how people can change in the right circumstances. Enough dawdling-time to pick a takeaway up and get home to my family.
