It had been a very productive week for Berk after the death of Stoick and subsequent defeat of his killer, Drago Bludvist. All of the ice produced by the previous Alpha had been cleared away rather quickly, a new memorial statue of Stoick was erected, and many new dragons were welcomed under the command of their new Alpha, Toothless. His best friend Hiccup was now the new Chief and together they had a lot of responsibilities to attend to.

While Toothless was busy controlling the reckless behavior of several dragons at the cove, Hiccup decided to go on a walk back to the village, albeit still with a dragon in tow. Valka volunteered to stay at the cove to help Toothless with the other dragons. She had Cloudjumper accompany her son on his way to the village. Cloudjumper really preferred staying with his own rider, but he knew guarding her offspring was just as important.

"You know, Cloudjumper,", Hiccup started, "it's been twenty years and we still haven't gotten to know each other. Wanna start now?"

Cloudjumper warbled a little, dilating his owl-like eyes at the young man. Hiccup just smiled. "I'll take that as a yes."

Cloudjumper rolled his eyes, playfully nudging the young man with his left wing. That caused Hiccup to almost fall over.

"Whoa!", he exclaimed.

Fortunately he regained his balance and kept walking. Hiccup suddenly became very curious.

"One minute you're acting all graceful and such as a Stormcutter should be, and the next you're trying to knock me over. Has my mother ever seen this side of you?"

Cloudjumper warbled again in a happy tone, surprising Hiccup. He laughed at the dragon's answer.

"What are you trying to do? Hurt me again?"

Cloudjumper stopped at that. He suddenly remembered that night all those years ago, when he saw Hiccup as a babe in his cradle. He'd been disturbed by Valka, accidentally cutting Hiccup's chin and making him cry. Then he saw a hand waving in front of his face. He snapped out of his flashback and looked at Hiccup who had a concerned expression on his face.

"You okay?", he asked.

Cloudjumper didn't respond. He just looked at Hiccup, then looked at a more specific location of the man's body: his chin. Amid the facial hair was an easily visible scar. Hiccup quickly realized this. He touched it with his finger.

"Is this what you're worried about? Look, Cloudjumper. I forgive you for that. I know you didn't mean it. Besides, you're not the only dragon who's made me bleed."

Hiccup lifted up his prosthetic leg to show it to Cloudjumper.

"When Toothless and I fell out of the sky after defeating that evil Queen, he tried to save me by grabbing onto my leg with his teeth. It was the only way."

Cloudjumper became very curious about the leg. He lowered his head towards it and gave it a few sniffs, just like Toothless had five years earlier. Hiccup smiled at what the dragon was doing. Cloudjumper stopped sniffing and lifted his head back up to look at Hiccup, who then put a hand on Cloudjumper's nose. After touching for a few moments, they pulled away from each other and proceeded to continue their walk to the village.

"I hope the Great Hall's got a fresh brew of mead. I'm parched.", Hiccup joked.

Cloudjumper just grunted in annoyance.
