The computer sounded off and Grant got out of his chair. Grant is what some might call a super-nerd. He knows everything about everything. He knows what's super effective against what, he knows when every Pokémon evolves, and knows the origin of every single Pokémon name. His dream, above all else, is to be a Pokemon master. The only thing standing between him and his dream is the fact that his only pokemon is his trusty Gogoat, known as "Greg." The is also the fact that he has to defeat all 8 gym leadres and the Elite Four, but before that, he must also overcome his rival, the lovely Hannah. She has been his rival since they have been kids. She has played every sport imaginable, and he has taken every class in school imaginable. They are polar opposites, but for some reason Grant feels attracted to her. He feels like with his smarts and her athletic skills, they could overcome anything.
Grant went down the stairs of his quaint little ranch house. He lives there with his mother, father, and annoying little sister. She might have one year left in high school, but to him she will always his baby sister. Bonding down the stairs, Grant ran out the door that lead to the giant ranch his parents owned. They raise Pokémon of all shapes and sizes and sell their eggs to egger young kids or to Professor Juno for her research. Professor Juno is one of Grants only friends. Ever since she came to their ranch looking for Pokémon for her research, Grant and her have been the best of friends. Grant has told Mrs. Juno everything, except one thing he has never told anyone. Grant can understand Pokémon. He figured this out with his best friend Greg. He was sitting around and he heard a voice. He looked around trying to figure out who it was and the only thing there was a Gogoat. He then decided that he really could understand Pokémon. Ever since then Grant and Greg have been the best of friends and are rarely seen apart. Greg is the only pokemon that has talked to Grant that is not an infant. It seems that pokmon forget that some humans can understand them and stop talking when grow older. Grant figured this out when he was in the ranch. Every time an older pokemon needed help, the only way grant would know of it is through Greg. He would then go and tell his dad that he thought something was wrong with the certain pokemon and his dad would go and check it out. Grant's parents have always been suspicious of Grant and they aren't sure if Grant really can understand pokemon or if he is just lucky. They have talked to Professor Juno about it and she said that Grant would tell her if something like that happens, so she thinks he is just lucky, but Grant's parents still are not sure. Greg can even tell Grant what moves each pokemon knows. For example, Greg knows Horn Leech, Stomp, Tackle, and Roar.
That day Grant decided that tomorrow he would go against the first gym leader, Constance, a bug type master. This will be difficult, Grant knew, but with his trusty Gogoat by his side, grant doesn't think anything will go wrong. Little does he know that this will be just the beginning.
