There was a reason why Winry never cried when Edward boarded the mechanical object and left Amstris probably for forever into a different world she can't reach. A reason why she only smiled said "I guess this is goodbye for good."...
After the invasion ended and all went back Winry was reported personally by Corporal Mustang that Alphonse was missing, probably followed his brother through the gate "You didn't tell him right?" the corporal added "About them?" "No." Winry smiled to herself "It does better off like that Mr. Mustang; at least nothing will hold him back." "Are you sure miss?" the soldier asked "Positive corporal." Winry nodded "Goodbye corporal." As she made her way the station Schiezka caught up on her "Winry! Winry!" "What is it Schiezka?" The blond mechanic asked "Did you...d-did-" "No Schiezka, I didn't." Winry answered
"Why? He has the righ-"
"Goodbye Schiezka."
Turning around Winry boarded the train departing for Resemool.
-Later-
"I'm home granny!"
Pinako Rockbell turns to the door where her granddaughter entered "Good to see you back Winry. I heard there was an attack at Central." "They took care of it." Winry replied
"I heard Ed came back."
"He left again."
"Did you tell him?"
"No."
Silence followed as Winry walked upstairs "They asked for you." "I'll see to it granny." Smiling Winry opened the door to a room only to meet a pair of golden and blue eyes. "Mom!" The two one-almost-two years old cling to her legs "Granny say papa came home." Her daughter said enthusiastically "Papa home." Her son added. "Papa..." Winry fought the lump in her throat as she sat down "Is very busy that he had to leave for a long time... He said he love you two." "I love him papa."Her golden eyed daughter hugged her waist but her blue eyed son stared at her "What's wrong Theo?" "Will he be home?" His mother offered him a smile "When his work is over." Theo hugged his mother harder "I want him back." "He'll come back Theo." The 20 years old mother told them "He'll come back."
