My Tates Creek Marching Family
It was many and many a month ago
On a band field new to me
That a family was formed which you might know
The Marching Band of TC
And this family, they lived with no other thought
Than to play their best musically
I was a child and they were all older
On this band field new to me
But we all loved music with a love more than love
I and my marching family
With a love so strong that Louie Armstrong from heaven
Coveted them and me
And this was the reason that months ago
On a band field new to me
A sound blew out of a cloud, uplifting
My Tates Creek marching family
So that our Triumphant Echoes came and went
And bore them away from thee
To wait many months to return
To this band field new to me
The calendar, not so unforgiving
Was envying my marching family
Yes! That was the reason (as all bandies know)
On a band field new to me
That the months flew by, the calendar fell
Taking my marching family
But our sound, it was strong by far than the sound
Of those far old than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the judge in the box
Nor the time flying by me
Can ever take my soul, my love for thee
My Tates Creek marching family
For the trumpets never sound without bringing me dreams
Of the glory of being a bandie
And the flags never rise but I feel the wind blow
By the colorguard of my family
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my trumpet-my uniform-my life, and my pride
My Tates Creek marching family
On a band field new to me
