"Are you really sure you're going to be okay, Mr. Mayor?" A bright yellow-furred Shih Tzu walking on two legs hastily asked. She was wearing a rather nice looking outfit, struggling to keep up her pace as she carried an overstuffed suitcase with both paws.
A light green tortoise sporting a white beard, a pair of spectacles, and some tropical themed red swim trunks grunted in response, "Just because I'm old doesn't mean I can't take care of myself! And as great of a mayor I may have been, I do have a name!" He stopped walking and stroked his beard, resting an arm on his cane. "Yes... I was indeed a great mayor, perhaps the best this town has ever seen! Isn't that right, Isabelle?"
The yellow Shih Tzu nearly jumped in response to hearing her name called, "Y-Yes Mr. Mayo- I mean Mr. Tortimer!" She gently set the suitcase down and straightened out her now wrinkly dress, trying to catch her breath, "Th-This is the last suitcase... Right?"
Tortimer let out a laugh and continued walking, "Come now Isabelle, you should learn to be more like me, full of energy and inspiration! Not to mention, I don't think that new mayor of yours will take too kindly to slackers."
At the mention of the new mayor Isabelle sighed, "You're absolutely sure they didn't give you a name? Or even send a photo?" She lifted the suitcase and followed behind Tortimer once more.
"Bah! Details, details, that's all I ever hear from you! Names and faces aren't important, it's the character that counts!" Tortimer chuckled as he turned to face Isabelle, "He should be arriving later today anyway, didn't you read his letter?"
"Yes I did but-"
"No buts!" He interrupted, facing forward again, "It's finally time for me to retire from being mayor of New Leaf, I don't want any of your doubts ruining it for me!"
"Couldn't you at least stay until he arrives? What if he doesn't show up?" Isabelle asked with worry in her face. Tortimer didn't respond to her this time, continuing to walk towards the now visible dock. Isabelle followed silently behind, not pressing him any further for an answer.
'I just hope he's right about this...' She thought to herself.
Author's Notes

Let me know if I spell anything wrong, or type something that doesn't quite make sense, it's tough to catch your own mistakes sometimes!
