Reaper is a cat. Reaper is also a pet, although he doesn't like that label very much.

People don't own him.

He owns them.

Reaper has a girl, nowadays. He had his witch, before, but she's gone now. He feels he may have liked his witch more than his witch's girl. Especially when she disappeared off to that horrible school and came back smelling all different and lovesick.

Reaper doesn't love people. He thinks it's an awful waste of time. He likes people who feed him. But love is pushing it some.

Sometimes he wonders if his girl loves him. Then he decides he doesn't want to be loved by his girl, because then he'll be in the same category as his girl's mate, the awful boy who is the reason Reaper's girl smelled all lovesick and why Reaper is stuck in this place, with him, and lots of dogs.

Oh, how Reaper hateshis girl's mate. His girl is a clever human. Her mate is stupid and brash and oh-so arrogant. He's got all this silly curly fur that's a weird gold colour on his head, not at all like his girl, who has sleek fur which is a much nicer dark colour. He wears a shiny hat like Reaper's girl, but his is heavy and he has a sword, too. Apparently the other humans in the castle have to listen to him. Reaper thinks that's awfully stupid. Why should they listen to him? He's only a boy, still, and not a very smart one at that. He's like a dog, Reaper decides. If his girl is a cat, her mate is a dog.

Dogs and cats should not mix, and they certainly shouldn't be mates, especially when his girl's mate tries to shove him out of his favourite sleeping spots and stop Reaper clawing him.

Reaper will claw the stupid boy as much as he likes. He doesn't understand how his clever girl has such an awful mate. He thinks that was a very bad decision on her part.

Unfortunately, his girl seems to like her mate an awful lot, and he seems to like her even more (such a dog thing- ridiculous devotion), so he doesn't appear to be going anywhere soon. Unhappily, the cold castle with the nasty men and vultures appears to be his home. Reaper would be quite happy to live here with just his girl. It's cold and a bit damp, and there's lots of mice and birds for him to kill. Of course, his girl's mate is trying to change it. He always has to ruin things for Reaper. He tries to make him sleep outside too. Reaper is having none of that. He will sleep on his girl's bed, because she makes some bad decisions, but she's still a young human, and she is his witch's girl too, so he has to look after her, for his witch.

She wakes up quite upset sometimes, or sometimes she won't wake up, and Reaper will wake her up.

Or try to.

But, damn him to hell, he can't count the amount of times his human's mate has quite literally hurled him off the bed when he comes to wake up Reaper's girl and look after her. If he's going to do that, Reaper decides, he should be there to begin with.

Reaper believes this to be very inconsiderate, and he always tells the stupid boy so, by trying to bite him.

He gets shoved off the bed again, with a growl of "go away, damned cat!"

That's Reaper's girl he's holding and trying to calm down. Reaper doesn't need to go away.

But, then again, no matter how stupid his girl's mate is, he has to grudgingly admit that the stupid blonde boy is much better at waking her up and calming her down than he is.

Maybe Reaper should go and get him, instead of trying himself?

He does get to claw him to wake him up, which is a plus. And biting him to hurry him up? As well as getting to pounce on him when he isn't wearing a shirt to protect him?

And, you know, making it easier to look after his witch's girl.

Maybe, just maybe, Reaper will have to tolerate his girl's mate.

It won't stop him from putting dead birds in his lap while he's working, though.

That's always fun.
