Of all things, Freeze had never expected this.

He was frozen in his own ice.

How ridiculous. He couldn't even absorb it due to the state his body had gone into when it covered him entirely. That was a good thing, because he would have died otherwise, but it annoyed him nonetheless.

This had all started with that annoying robot shouting about 'power'. And it didn't even possess any sort of threat - at least, until it shocked him. Apparently, the moronic bat hadn't made his heart resistant to such an attack when he had last upgraded him.

What good was having a working body if your heart gave out?

And then - after all his work when he was almost dying, that kid goes and fixes the robot he had just dismantled. Sure, it had been able to prolong his remaining time a bit, but it almost immediately broke free from the boy's control.

And then he had to go and use that move while his back was pressed up against a wall. So of course he was frozen along with them.

But that wasn't what surprised him the most. He had known he'd be frozen, too, and he hadn't cared. He had been willing to do this to himself to save the boy. Like it or not, that was the type of thing a good person might do.

He wasn't a good person! All he could be was a servant who sought power. That was all his mind was designed to allow.

So there had to have been something selfish inside that intent. Something that would make it clear. And after looking hard enough, he found it.

Sorbet.

That young echidna reminded him of Sorbet. The 'little sister' he never liked, but couldn't bring himself to hate. He was weak and defenseless much like she had been when she had first awoken.

It was strange to find that you suddenly care about what happens to someone. For years he had killed without remorse on his maker's orders, but when the time came that someone else was going to kill, even a small resemblance like that made him stop it?

Freeze would have frowned, had his features not already been frozen in a scowl.

He did not want a little brother.
