Hi! So here goes take two.

Although I would love to edit it and make lots of little changes to the plot I don't have the time, so I am correcting silly grammar and spelling mistakes and bizarre underlining etc. If any body notices that I have missed anything, don't hesitate to tell me!

Unfortunately, I am not J K Rowling in disguise, therefore I do not own these wonderful characters *huge sigh* and I do not make any money from this story. (This is now going to serve as a disclaimer for the entire story because I got fed up of writing one every chapter)

Regulus is in his 4th year.

The Marauders, Snape, Lily, Alice, Frank, Andromeda and Ted are in their 5th year.

Narcissa Malfoy is in her 6th year.

Bellatrix Black, Luscious Malfoy and Rudolphus Lestrange are in their 7th year

I know it is not correct, but it works for me.

Here we go…

Lily stood in the hallway her long, red hair trailing down her back. She was talking animatedly to a seventh year Ravenclaw who James recognised as one of Sirius's latest conquests. For a while James watched as Lily laughed with the girl, whose name James thought might be Sarah. Lily looked relaxed and was now in the midst of telling an energetic story for which she gestured a lot with her hands.

The door to the potions classroom opened with a flourish, pulling James from his ogling. Along with Sirius and Remus he walked in to take his usual seat near the back of the class and watched silently as Lily moved to her place close to Slughorn's desk.

"Three guesses what he's looking at," James heard Sirius say from his side.

"Hmm…could it perhaps be the beautiful, yet unobtainable Miss Evans," Remus replied, a hint of amusement lacing his tone.

Sirius sniggered as James looked at his friends.

"Unobtainable is not a word I am familiar with, please enlighten me o' wise Moony," James was now looking between his three closest friends with a smug look.

Peter the smallest of those three said quietly as Slughorn began, " I heard that Alan Carter asked her out and she told him she'd think about it"

James let out a muffled laugh as Sirius's eyes went wide.

"If that scrawny idiot thinks he has a chance with Lily he is seriously deluding himself!"

"Mr Potter, your success on the Quidditch pitch does not excuse you from working in my lessons" Slughorn's voice rang through the classroom.

"Sorry Professor," James turned to the front in time to see Lily scowl in his direction and return her attention to her cauldron.

The marauders set about preparing their own apparatus and ingredients as Slughorn moved towards Lily to peer at her already bubbling potion.

"What is his problem with me?" James asked quietly as Peter struggled with a stubborn corked vial.

"He's got it in for you because you wouldn't join his "slug club", idiot" Sirius muttered taking the bottle from Peter's hands and uncorking it.

" Well excuse me if I don't want to be a trophy on his shelf," James hissed angrily at his friends, he really couldn't stand Slughorn and his biased treatment of his students.

Remus looked thoughtful for a moment and then spoke softly as he flipped through his potions book, "You know, it might actually be useful for you to accept one of his invitations."

James looked at Remus as if he had lost his mind, a look that was mirrored on the faces of Sirius and Peter. " What are you on about Moony!"

"Yeah, 'cos at the second you're sounding as crazy as Trelawney," Sirius whispered incredulously.

"Have none of you noticed that Lily attends every one of his little functions," Remus replied giving them a smug look.

James turned to look at Lily who was showing the finished contents of her cauldron to a delighted Slughorn and then turned thoughtfully back to his friends, "I think you might actually be on to something there Moony." A mischievous smile spread slowly across his handsome face.
