The Office
Season Six
Oscar and Andy.
The Colour Red
As the tomato red craft paper fell from the roof, Oscar let out a soft hiss. It was Valentines Day- again. He'd always prided himself on being impartial to the event. He had never been either completely positive or negative towards the day that sees to trigger an emotional reaction from everyone. His ability to be level minded separated him from the rest, he had prided. Though something about this February fourteenth was different. He flicked the homemade streamer to the floor, ignoring Angela's snort of disgust. Honestly what did she think he was going to do? Stand on his chair and tack the thing back up? He took a small pleasure from knowing that her Valetine's Day was as bad as his.
Oscar didn't feel alone with his discontent. The whole of the office seemed to be in a depressive state. Michael's whimpering could be heard from behind his closed door and Dwight and Angela were playing a private game of look and then look away. The only people who seemed to be in the spirit were Jim and Pam, but as Oscar couldn't see them from his desk they were irrelevant. He wondered if it was his co-workers that had led him to this depressive state.
Could their bad moods affect his own?
Can you catch loneliness?
The clocked clicked over to eleven thirty.
There was no point continuing work; Michael's lonely hearts club was due to start soon.
His thoughts were interrupted as his phone buzzed beside him.
Andy.
He opened the picture message with a small smile, avoiding anything that could catch Angela's attention. Andy's image was smiling up at him. Due to the windswept hair, Oscar guessed he was already up in the air. Trust Andy to send a picture of his face instead of the wonderful views from the hot air balloon, Oscar thought with a laugh. He saved the image and slipped the phone back into his pocket. He had to commend his friend. Not many people would spend Valentines Day taking a hot air balloon ride that was meant to be enjoyed on their honeymoon alone. He had pretty much taken it upon himself to mend Andy's self esteem. The pair had grown so close that Andy had even suggested that they take the balloon ride together. Oscar had declined, deeming it a tad inappropriate and plus he was scared of heights.
Anyways, he was going to get to see Andy at their massage later.
