Russia looked up to the sky, blinking as snowflakes touched his eyelashes. The night sky was glorious—bright, starry and wide. In his home, the stars were like little bullet holes in a pitch black ceiling. They were out every night, no matter where he went. Even in Moscow and St. Petersburg, where the city lights were brightest in all of his land, the stars were vivid and conspicuous. Coupled with the gentle snowfall, tonight was perfect.
"They are so beautiful, nyet?" He turned to China, who had been sitting beside him for hours. He smiled sweetly at his dark-haired companion. China just continued to cry out from behind his gag, struggling against the sturdy cord that kept him in place. He glared at Russia, and the northern country pouted at the rude look. He protested, "моя милочка, do not be like that. How else was I supposed to get you to come to Mother Russia and sit with me?"

Translation: моя милочка means "my darling."
