ten year old Nico always loved flashy things. so when he saw the ever so famous Lotus Casino, Bianca knew what was coming. "Bianca! please let me go in!" he whined, attempting to drag her into the sketchy flashing lights and appealing food. "Nico, please. Mama would want to explore america, not stay curled up inside a casino." tears filled her younger brother's sweet brown eyes. "please?" he pleaded. "Nico, no." Bianca said, trying to be stern. Nico's face reddened as tears streamed on his cheeks. guilt quickly overtook her, finally giving in to his pleading. "ok, we can go in. bit only for half an hour." Nico's eyes lit up. "really?" he said, stepping forward toward the casino. "yes." with that said, he immediately ran in, almost shrieking from sheer delight. Bianca walked quietly behind her brother, trying not to cause a scene. as she received each stare and look of mild disgust, she apologized the best she could with her eyes for her brother. she loved her brother dearly, but sometimes she wished he wasn't so intrusive sometimes. pretty much giving up trying to restrain her brother, looked around at the various slot machines and blackjack tables. she soon stumbled across a mysterious board game. she looked at the box, and saw the title. fancy letters were stamped across the lid, reading: 'american explorer!' she sat down, at least trying to have fun. but soon, time slipped away. she forgot about the sketchy flashing lights, and became entranced in her game, unable to think about her brother or anything else. her glassy eyes became bloodshot quickly, as she had forgotten about sleep. she did not need to think about sleep when she had america to explore!
Nico wandered around the casino happily, when something caught his eye. he walked over to a spot on the floor with a crystal ball image, saying: will you be wealthy? will you be famous? will you be an athlete? find out here! Nico picked up a piece of paper beside the image, saying: "pick another card!' so he did. it said the same thing. so he got another. and another. soon he entered a trance. he wasn't thinking of his sister, only of the game. the only thing he paid any attention to was the cards that would apparently tell his fate. all he wanted was his fate. was that so hard to ask for?
