Slipping into reverie,
Drifting through a dream,
Blue eyes haunting
Piercing, daunting,
Shattering my mask.

Those shards of ice,
Cold and broken,
Slice beyond my skin.
And fading fast
I hear a noise,
A whisper through the din,

"Listen to your heartbeat
You know your fears are true
His very presence ignites within
A dire passion,
A deadly taboo."

In terror I turn to run away
But find him standing there,
And I know I can't escape
His chilling, deepening stare.

His icy hand reached for me
And I began to shake.
I closed my eyes and braced myself,
Helpless in his wake.

But nothing happened,
And silence pressed
Heavy and unyielding.
With dread I waited for the blows,
Brutal and unfeeling.

Had fate intervened?
Would I survive?
Or would he break me
And leave me to die?
Of one thing was I certain
To him I could deny.
I would not let him
See me cry.

I opened my eyes
With hesitation,
Expecting a stony glare.
But he looked at me
With shining eyes
As he stroked my hair.

Then he was gone
Without a word,
And I still standing there
Listened to my heartbeat
Breaking in despair.
