She lay on the floor, the heart that beat in her chest quickening its pace. Her legs curled up against the goddess' bodice as her pale, thin arms wrapped around them. Her vision fogged by the tears in her eyes, she shook horrendously, holding in the salty liquid. Her face was flustered from being upset. She curled up tighter into a ball, trying not to cry. The information she had just discovered was exactly what she had needed on a day like this. She didn't want this to happen to her, at least not now. Her heart skipped a beat as she heard the door slide open.
"Akito-san..." She knew exactly who it was. She didn't want to face him. She couldn't after what she had just found out. The man bent down near her, tilting his head as he placed a hand on her shoulder, which she violently denied.
"Akito-san, I heard the news..." He tilted his head. She glanced up at him only for a second, to see those charming brown eyes that she had known so long.
"G-get... away...N-Now..." she mumbled out, trying not to look so scared. But she was scared. She was horrified! He didn't know... he didn't know how this was going to ruin her life, their lives!
Then she felt it. He embraced her. She didn't know what to do. She didn't want to pull away, yet she did. She suddenly returned the hug, like a small, frightened child, letting all of her tears fall down onto his robe. He held her close, knowing that this would be frustrating for her, for everyone. She continued to cry for a few moments, before finally speaking.
"Sh...Shigure... Wh-What are we going to do...? H-How will th-this affect the... Sohma family...?" Her words were barely audible, muffled by his shoulder, but he heard her.
"I don't know, Akito... I don't know..." This was one of those times when he needed to be serious. This was all just a bit too much to handle. It was all so confusing... It would change the Sohma family forever. For he, Shigure Sohma, had gotten her pregnant.
This had all happened so suddenly, it was all so new... They hadn't told anyone yet; the only ones that knew were the two and Kureno, (whom had told Shigure, I might add). Akito was probably the most frightened. How could she bear a child? How could something, a human, live inside of her body? What if it hated her? She didn't want a baby! Not now, oh definitely not now. The family (not regarding the oldest of the Jyuunishi and Kureno) wasn't even aware of her true gender, let alone that she was pregnant! Akito was horrified. She could never have a baby. Never.
"Why'd you have to... I-It's your fault! If you hadn't... seduced me, this would have never happened!" the upset goddess yelled, the tears refusing to stop their flow.
"We both know that I did not seduce you, Akito-san," Shigure told her, wiping the tears from her cheeks with his thumbs. She growled, her bottom lip trembling as she looked away, her face red.
"I don't want to have it, Shigure. I don't want to have it." She finally stopped crying, biting her lip nervously, not wanting to look into those entrancing brown eyes. Shigure looked at her, his face looking worried. He wasn't worried very often; only at the most serious of times.
"We can't do anything about it now, Akito-san. Abortion is out of the question."
"I kn-know, but... What if I'm like her, Shigure? What if I'm like her? What if it hates me?" Shigure looked down at her seriously.
"You will not be like your mother, Akito. We're going to be there for our child. We're going to love it, and care for it, and it won't hate us. When it misbehaves, we'll scold it. And when it's sad, we'll comfort it. The baby will love us, Akito. Don't you worry." She looked up at him, the last of her tears falling down her cheek. She smiled, knowing everything would be all right. 'Don't you worry.'
