The King Bound In Iron
They think they've won. They think Omashu belongs to them now. "New Ozai," eh? Monkeyfeathers! Typical firebender arrogance.
They think that because I surrendered and let them put me in this box that they've beaten me. They think that old king Bumi isn't a threat anymore. Heh, heh. Are they in for a surprise.
I can earthbend with just a twitch of my face. I've lived in this city for more than a century. There's isn't a nook or cranny in Omashu that I don't know. I know the name and strength of every earthbender in the city. I've personally trained a good many of them or some of their recent ancestors. I've studied generations of firebenders and have had years to plan what I'd do if things ever came to this.
But most importantly, I have a plan and a lot of patience.
When the time is right I'll pop right out of this silly box and personally lead my people in the fight to free their home. I'll show the firebenders just what a "mad genius" can do when he puts his mind to it.
Heh, heh. Yes, that will be fun. Fun like I haven't had in ages.
I didn't tell him the last time I saw him but Aang is key to my plan. If he can't stop Ozai then even one of my mad plans won't be enough to save my city. Or myself for that matter.
But Aang already had enough worries and adding to them wouldn't have helped. I could tell the last time I saw him that he'd eventually fully understand the importance of what I told him about the power of doing nothing. He always caught on to what I was thinking more quickly than most people. That's part of the reason we become friends.
So for now it's just waiting and some more waiting. I think I'll take a nap. Perhaps I'll dream of a free Omashu.
The End
