Diamond Ring

I looked at my angel

wearing my mother's ring

She asked me

if I liked the way it looked

Casually I told her

that it looked very nice

But I couldn't keep up

the casual façade for very long

All the happiness pooled inside of me

spilled out into a smile

And I couldn't contain it any longer

Without even thinking

My joy was plain

on my face

And my ecstasy was as bright and warm

as the sun
