He has always heard tales about the heavenly maiden and her robe.
His grandmother always told him the story since he was a boy, always with sadness in her voice. He knows the tale never had a happy ending the man stole the maiden's robe and force her to marry him.
Even now he can remember questioning him grandmother did the man eventually give the maiden her robe back so she can return to heaven. She will always answer in a sad tone. "No, he didn't."
He wasn't naive.
He highly doubt the maiden grew to love the man.
He had witnessed first hand what force marriages can do a person. Sure his father didn't force his mother to marry him and it had been more of an arrange marriage, but his parents didn't love each other.
They might have tolerated each other, maybe even grew to care for each other a bit, but it wasn't love. He knew deep down his father loved another woman but he never told him who, and his mother wasn't the type to talk about her personal love life, but he knew that his mother was the type to believe in happily ever afters. Despite her unhappy marriage.
He supposes he is a lot like his mother when it comes to believing in happy ever afters. After all he has always hope that that the man would give the heavenly maiden's robe back, allowing her to go back home.
However, he will admit until he met her he has always thought this legend this dark story his grandmother always told him as a boy was just some make believe story.
He had never though heavenly maidens were real.
Despite the fact that he knows their is many variations of it around the world, but he does know this he will find a way to get her robe back to her.
