Alone with the Dead
I sit here by the graves thinking. We lost so much to Voldemort. It feels so strange to say that name. For so many years we where afraid of him, now he's gone too.
The graves here just have numbers, no names. Number one was the first to die, number two the second, and so on. Ron Weasley is number 100,032. Harry Potter, the man I loved, is lucky number 200,000, some luck. Voldemort is number 200,006. Severus Snape is number 200,007. You would think that Harry Potter killed Voldemort but he didn't. Voldemort was killed by Severus Snape. Severus Snape died in the effort.
Most of my friends are one number or another. Lavender Brown is number 60,000. Neville Longbottom is number 4. Sirius Black is number 199,999. Dumbledore is number 199,998. I wonder why I'm not with them.
Everyone who comes to visit the graves looks at me strangely. They pity me, I can tell. They say "the poor little girl; she lost everything." Maybe they are right after all. Here it's just me, Hermione Granger, amidst the flowers and the candles and the dead.
