This is a Birthday present for my friend.

There I sat on my trampoline, a warm summers eve. The wind was blowing the mulberry tree leaves in a calming way. Then I saw him, my pug, Tanner. He ran about sniffing and snorting until he found a good spot to...never mind. Today was another boring day at school. With the acceptation of a few weirdo's no one was worth a second glance, that was accept him. The man with the metal arm. The new history teacher. His lectures were long and boring but everyone payed attention any way. It was hard not to his deep emotionless voice was so faint it would be impossible to whisper without drowning him out. "Anna come in for dinner," my mother called from the back door.

The next day I wore one of my favorite shirts. It was a gray shirt with a Captain America shield on the front. When I finally dragged myself to history class I sat in a desk near the middle. I never really liked the back but I'm to tall to sit in the front. Good think a tall boy named Luke sat behind me. I new Luke since Elementary school but we never really talked. Come to think of it I only talk to a hand full of people I knew in Middle school let alone Elementary. It's quite sad when friends drift apart and don't even speak anymore.

Mr. Barnes got out of his chair and walked to his podium where his notes were. He looked at all of us and the usual clatter that began and ended every class came to a halt. For the first time something else was in his emotionless eyes, pain. "Two page essay on the holocaust due Friday," he said almost strained then walked back to his desk and sat down. It took a minute to process what had happened but one by one everyone got out there notebooks and began to write.

We wrote until the bell rang then the others got up and left. I stayed back and approached the teacher. "Mr. Barnes, are you okay?" I asked cautiously.

"Yes, I'm fine," said Mr. Barnes not looking up from his computer.

"Just making sure," I said leaving the room when I passed through the door way I hear a small sob come form the middle aged man with the metal arm. As I walked to my locker I silently prayed for my teacher, and Kody, 'cause dang, his fashion sense.

Just something funny to make my friend laugh on her special day.
