Thirty years later Kai is married to Mao. Mao is aggravated once again by the fact that Kai spends more time with the sleeping Saya then he does with her. Kai leaves immediately to avoid further arguing and heads straight for the Miyagusuku Crypt.
His reasoning is that it has been 30 years and Saya is due to wake any day. He now works for shift for the reason of wanting to finally be able to protect Saya. It still bothers Kai to this day that he was so weak back then.
He doesn't like being with Just Mao and the girls lived a full life until they were 5 and then they went to sleep. There is speculation that they will not sleep as long as Saya, and are prepared if they wake up when she does.
The next day Kai hear that a naked girl is in the ocean and heads there frantically. It is Saya. He grabs a towel and raps it around her still young body. She has not aged a bit.
"I hate you!" Mao dropped her grocery and glared at Saya. She ran off in the direction of the home.
"I can't deal with this now." Kai sighed and took a breath. Suddenly Hagi's hand was on his shoulder.
"Let me." Kai smiled knowing that wasn't a suggestion but in fact a statement. He has never been able to compete with Hagi and has known that ever since he saw him kiss Saya thirty-two years ago.
With the wind Hagi and Say was gone. Kai picked up the grocery and walked home. "You know Hagi came." He stated as he walked in the house. "He has her and my job is done, and it was a job."
"You expect me to believe that everything is going to be how it was a year ago before the 30 year anniversary?" Kai grabbed her and pulled her in close. Mao choked on the last word.
"Yes" he whispered and the he kissed her.
He looked out the window that night and smiled, he knew he lied to Mao this afternoon. Things were about o change quickly and it was going to be crazy, just like thirty years ago.
