Something i've had in my head for a while.
A knock on the door. "Enter!" comes Arthur's voice. The door opens and a knight steps inside.
"A scroll for you, sire."
"Thankyou. You may leave," Arthur murmurs as he stares at the parchment. He unrolls it and reads.
"Dear Arthur. Just a bit of fanfiction for you to enjoy."
Intrigued, he reads more. The "fanfiction" has him and Merlin in it and some sort of warning - Slash. He has no idea what that means. Instead, he reads on.
Slowly, the young prince turns a nasty shade of green.
"Arthur was at Merlin's neck now, trailing light kisses across it..."
"I WHAT!?" Horrified by what he's reading he drops it, looking at it with utter shock on his face.
"Arthur! Arthur, are you alright? I heard you yell!" Morgana's startled voice brings him to his senses. She's banging on his door now, almost desperate to get in.
"Morgana! No... no it's fine! Don't come in!"
She's not listening and in a most unladylike fashion forces her way into his room. He would find it terribly funny (and admittedly, he'd dreamed of it) if she'd been so desperate to see him in different circumstances. "And you tell me about knocking." He says this dryly, in an effort for her not to notice the scroll on the floor. But she has.
"Oh, Arthur, what's this?" She asks, about to unroll the parchment.
"NO! Don't read it!"
She has a wicked glint in her eye. "Why? Does it contain dark secrets of the great Prince Arthur?"
His face is burning, he knows it. "I - no. No it doesn't."
"Oh well you won't mind me reading it then!" Grinning now, she unrolls the parchment. Reads. Turns green. Any second now...
"URGH! Arthur I - you're not, are you? It... it - I..." She's not even coherent now, and Arthur is secretly pleased she takes it so badly. He puts on his appalled face.
"Me? Never in a million years!" She stops spluttering. Looks at him.
"Well someone must have been encouraged to write that - stuff - about you and Merlin."
Her wicked grin is back. "You don't have a crush on Merlin, do you Arthur?" She's teasing him and he knows that, but still he rises to her bait.
"No. No I don't. Do you?" She stares at him, eyes wide.
"How can you - I mean -"
"Thought not." He grins, mischief in his deep blue eyes. His mouth curves into a tiny smile. She blinks.
Morgana looks at him almost hungrily, and Arthur bridges the miniscule gap between them.
