Prompt: If you want requests, I want to talk about Erik and Charles playing monopoly. Because that's an idea that's very important to me. (Maybe the chess set got damaged and someone tried to ~subtly~ replace it or whatever, idk.)

"It's just not the same," Charles whined, dolefully pushing the little top hat down the row three squares. Snow raced past the window behind him, coating the fields of the X-Mansion in foot after foot of white powder. A fire crackled in the hearth, filling the study with warmth.

"Stop complaining," Erik snapped, rolling and throwing the dice with so much enthusiasm that they spun off the table. He stooped down, announced, "Seven!" and flicked his hand, sending the miniature metal ship across the board. (He had chosen that piece specifically because of how they met, innocently claiming, "I won't destroy this one, I promise.")

Charles glared at him. "Might I remind you that you were the one who lost control and destroyed our chess set?"

"Hey! It's your fault for getting us that nice metal one and donating our old, perfectly good, plastic one! And Iwas perfectly fine getting down in the normal place, but someone wanted to try something new. Someone said doing it in the study would be a nice change of pace. Someone 'forgot' that we had metal-proofed that bedroom on purpose, and that anything metal in the study was screwed!"

Charles giggled. "That one was pretty worth it, though."

"Yeah, it really was. So quit complaining! We have to make do with monopoly until we get a new chessboard. And judging by that storm, we're going to be snowed in for a while. Now pay up – you landed on my space."

Charles looked down at his pitiful supply of monopoly money and then back up at Erik. "Want to ruin this one, too? What do you say?"

Erik swiped his hand across the table, sending the board to the floor and raining paper money into the air, crawling across the floor to where Charles was sitting. "Hell yes."
