For all she'd been in denial about Conor's sexuality since Lance had first questioned, Sheelagh began to accept that this is what made him happy. After all, she'd told herself often enough that her children's happiness was the most important thing in the world to her. Besides, being so supportive and understanding had earned her some major brownie points as Patrick was being pretty intolerant and stuborn about it.
Sheelagh watched the noisy, crowded room, and more specifically, Conor. His smile filled her with an indescribale feeling of happiness and pride. He raised his hand and waved to her from the dancefloor, she smiled and nodded in acknowledgement.
"It's nice to see you both looking so happy" Smiled Lance, who was standing beside her at the bar
"Thanks Lance, we owe a lot of that happiness to you. Sorry for being so defensive about it at first" She replied
"Don't worry about it, I half expected it" He laughed
Sheelagh looked at Conor again, he beckoned her over to join him, she smiled and shook her head, holding up her drink as an attempt at an excuse, but he resorted to the dreaded 'puppy dog' pleading look, which she was virtually powerless to, she she wandered over to join him, drink in one hand, Lance in tow.
