She thought back to that awful incident.
She lay on the cold stone floor screaming with pain and fearing for her life. She didn't know if she was going to make it.
She looks over to him and sees the pain in his eyes, the inner conflict within him. She gathers all her strength and shakes her head.
He can't help her, she knows that and she knows that deep inside, he knows that too.
She felt more pain and she could see the tear welling up in his eyes, she looked away.
He couldn't show how this affected him, they might figure it out if they realise.
But how could it not affect him? He was the love of her life and she his.
The pain was becoming too much, she didn't know how to make it stop.
She needed it to stop.
She hears her torturer ask where she got it from
"We found it – We found it –PLEASE" she begs for the pain to stop
Her torturer doesn't believe, they keep asking questions.
She looks over to him and can see he is about to break, about to do something stupid.
She racks her mind for an idea as she is hit with the Cruciatus Curse
She realises a way to make it stop and give him a possibility to calm down, enough so to not try to save her.
"It's a copy, just a copy!"
The pain stops and in its absence she feels herself going numb.
She struggles to stay awake but knows she is fighting a losing battle.
She turns to where he was before but he is no longer there, she looks at the stairs and sees him escorting a goblin.
In her last moments of consciousness, she makes eye contact with him.
She uses the last of her strength to mouth to him
'Love you, stay strong'
And as she starts to finally black out, she sees him mouth
'Love you too, only for you'
She pulls back from that awful incident, no need to live in the past.
He told her that he can't believe how strong she was through that. She can hardly believe it herself.
But she knows that the reason why is that she need to be strong, for both herself and him.
Because Hermione Malfoy needed her husband Draco to survive through the war.
And survive they did.
