Your face goes slack as your mouth hangs open and your body freezes. The color drained from your face as you stared at him with wide eyes. Your breath caught in your throat and you blinked quickly to hide the tears that threatened overflow. Your broken heart was still and for a moment, you only felt numbness. You gripped the fabric over your chest with white knuckles, feeling like a thousand daggers were being thrust into it as your breath came in short with a painful gasp that left you feeling dizzy and nauseated. You could barely form any words, your voice shaky, almost covering the sob that was about to break out. "W-What? You... You want to b-break up?"
"Yeah, sorry..." Aomine started with a shrugged, his hand reaching out to scratch the back of his head as he avoided your gaze, preferring to stare at the wall besides him. "It's just not working out."
"B-But Daiki-" You grasped the hem of his shirt and he whipped his his head around to glare at you. Your eyes widened in disbelief as you stood paralyzed by his stare. His icy blue eyes seemed to freeze you in your tracks, staring into your soul and reading your mind. After a few seconds he let out a small 'tch'' as his mouth downturned, forming a scowl before spitting out. "Don't."
You quickly withdrew your hand, the despair and pain becoming unbearable and soon your cheeks were wet and salty. Your eyes search for comfort in his sparse vacant orbs but find none. Your breath catches in your throat once more and your knees hit the ground as you collapse in disbelief.
Aomine turned around, giving you a mere glance before walking away and causing anger and sadness to surged through you with so much power you didn't know what to do. You open your mouth to say something, anything to convince him to stay but all that came out are deep, gut-wrenching sobs that tore through your chest and convulsed your small body.
"Daiki, no-" Your body bent forward, you pleaded as more tears fell. "Please, don't go. Don't go..."
As you watch him walk away, something inside of you breaks. It isn't a crash, it isn't thunder, it's the whisper before the wind, the crackle before the ice shatters. It's soft, subtle and terrible. You can barely see or think and you know something is gone, something vital, something as essential as air, something you didn't know you needed, and something you feel like you will never know again. Something, no- someone: Aomine.
Your shoulders were trembling while the salty tears continued to flow from your eyes. Nothing seemed to be able to escape your mouth except the uncontrollable sobs that came without warning. It felt like you couldn't think of anything except his face, a hole has appeared in your throat that keeps growing down to your heart, and you can't feel anything but that void. The void tugging at your heart, he left an emptiness inside that you knew would never go away.
