Anya Christina Emanuella Jenkins soon to be Mrs. Anya Christina Emanuella Jenkins Harris was stuck in the local retail store by the name of Sears, Roebuck and Co.
Now it wasn't just any aisle in Sears. Oh no, it was far from the distressed jeans, (Anya preferred her jeans to be in better spirits than distressed, thank you very much) and bedding supplies.
This was near the electronics, past the Televisions sets but before the handheld portable music devices.
Here on aisle twelve lived the batteries. Numerous brands of batteries just waiting to be bought and used and then replaced in a consumer cycle to help make the economy stable.
Now normally this would have heartily improved Anya's day. Good economic sense always did. After all she liked money, and liked responsively investing that money various purchases.
She did not like bunnies. With their twitchy little noses and what did the need such good eyesight for anyway? Here in lay the problem.
There was a sale on batteries on this day Anya was shopping. Energizer batteries. It was a sound economic buy.
But the energizer bunny, with its beady little eyes and its off color pink coat. It was taunting her trying to lure her into its trap by the words SALE TODAY ONLY, and her need to replace the batteries in all the flashlights at home. This bunny had to be an ancient demon it just had to be.
With its shuffling walk and disjointed clapping on its "drum" on the commercials. At least there her pleasantly shaped fiancé was there to soothe her troubled mind. Here in Sears she was all alone…
She just could justify buying batteries sponsored by the ultimate form of evil: pink bunnies.
She heart wrenchingly turned her back on SALE TODAY ONLY and left the store empty handed.

"Hey Anya, I had to stop into Sears today for a tool. I remembered you mentioned we needed batteries after last Thursdays patrol in Restfield. There were on sale, here you go. Love you Anya, got to get back to work!"
See…there was no escape. Even Xander, her dear Xander was blindly following that bunnies plan.
