There was something different about that morning. The bird were silent outside of the window. Ed shifted on the bed to look out the door. The lights in the house were softly shining on the pale white carpet.
'Another thing to remind me of Him.' Ed thought.
Envy had died about a year ago killed by his own hand. Of course nobody knew that he had been in love with the homunculus, or that they had been lovers by night only to be bitter enemies the next morning. He dragged himself out of bed and to the bathroom. His mind haunted by memories of pale skin, dark hair, and violet eyes. The pain in his heart began to grow unbearable as his thoughts strayed to his last words.
" Chibi … I guess this … is it … I would have wanted … more time … but it seems … that its not to be." Envy said weakly while coughing up blood.
"Envy please don't die, I'm not ready for you to die yet, please." Ed cried as he held his lovers dying body.
"Ed … its ok … I love you. … See you later … pipsqueak." Envy said than his body gave a shudder and dissolved in to dust. Ed gathered what of it he could before bundling it up in a small cloth pouch. He walked to the entrance and walked out to where Mustang and the rest of the team was.
The pain in his chest began to lessen as he looked in to the mirror pale skin, dullyellow eyes and hair met him in the mirror. He couldn't take it any more, he ran back into the bedroom and pulled out a piece of paper. He wrote:
To whomever finds this,
I'm tired of living as the ghost of the person that I used to be while I'm sorry you have to find out like this I have to tell someone. I'm in love with Envy we had been lovers for a year before the battle in which I had to kill him. I cant take the pain of losing him any longer. I now know what my mother felt like when father left her and I don't know how she lived with this pain as long as she did so this is my last request next to this note is a small bag of ashes they are Envy's please burn my body and scatter our ashes together so that we may be together in death as we were in life. I love you Al but I can't take it anymore please don't think less of me.

Ed reached into his pocket and pulled out the bag and placed it on the desk next to the note before grabbing the sleeping pills off of his side table and downing all that was left in the bottle. He laid down on the bed and fell into a deep slumber as the pills started to take effect.
"Ed your supposed to live longer than a year after my death you idiot but that cant be helped now." Envy's voice stated.
"Envy?" Ed whispered disbelieving. Ed opened his eyes to see a field with grass swaying in the breeze.
"Who were you expecting Lust?" Envy stated walking to meet him.
"Envy its you." Ed ran to Envy and wrapped his arms around him in a hug.
"Come on pipsqueak, there's some people waiting for you." Envy said grabbing on to his hand.
Ed nods and lets Envy lead him through field and through the light beyond. After all they were together in life and now they would be together forever in death.
